Podcasters for Charity Proposal
Podcaster's for Charity is a new idea of mine and I am looking for feedback so I put up this very simple page with hopes people will email with interest or feedback. Please keep in mind that the plan behind this keeps changing so the ideas portrayed below are fragmented. Charities are in constant need of money and trying to find target audiences, and podcaster's are some of the more genuine people because we have to get out and be ourselves for the audience. Charities need methods to get into the new media and they may not be able to get studio time or recording time and they are not a normal group that people will chase for an interview on a podcast.
My idea is this and what I am needing feedback on from both charities and podcaster's. Why can't we merge two groups together and give charities access to the audiences that we have with 15 second or 30 second sound or video clips that will broaden the reach of the charity. I am not saying random charities I want the podcaster to be able to choose the charity they want to support and get the sound clip, copy, or ability to write there own bumper for a charity and tell the listeners how to get involved.
Podcaster's with this service will be able to signup and get the show listed so that charities can see the available podcasts that they can get a clip on, the podcasts can pick and choose what charities they would like to feature and if they want audio or even video. If the podcaster chooses audio or video and wants to use a clip from the charity they will be able to download the clip and use it in the podcast. They will be given a specific URL to use so that the charity and podcaster's can see if the audience got involved and if it was interesting to the audience.
Charities will be able to signup and pitch podcasts or just put the charity in the general pool, they will be able to write copy for other podcasts to use and let podcaster's know if the host can write copy for the charity, they will also be able to record audio and video (audio first) online low cost or if they are close to a studio that will record for them they can upload the pitch. I see these as being 15 to 30 second clips that can be run in any podcast as a bumper. The charity should be able to see what podcast played the clip and what the reaction was as long as the podcaster's use the special urls or tracking variables that can be assigned.
All of this should be free to everyone to try to bring charities and new media together, charities need an audience too but they may not have the time to produce a podcast or a clip as well as find people to run the clip for them. So what I am looking for is the podcasting community to come together and be willing to donate 15 to 30 seconds of a podcast (does not even have to be every single podcast and no commitment to run these either) to the charity they choose. Also if you have a great recording setup and are willing to let a charity come in and record/produce a quick clip that would be awesome too.
Lets make this a community project and all chip in with ideas. If you think it will or will not work post a comment and lets get the discussion going
